What this app is built on
The open data and tools behind the German grammar, example sentences, and content in this app.
Tatoeba
Example sentences
Most of the German example sentences come from Tatoeba, released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 France licence (CC BY 2.0 FR). For the others, see "Use of AI" below.
Use of AI
Which content is prepared with AI
Some Wortino content is prepared with the help of AI and machine-translation tools:
- Turkish and English meanings, explanations and some translations are drafted with AI and then reviewed.
- When no suitable Tatoeba sentence exists for a word, an example sentence may be written with AI. These are always marked "AI Example" on the cards and can be hidden in your Profile settings.
- The pronunciation audio of words is an AI voice (ElevenLabs) reading the word from our database; no Tatoeba audio is used.
- German words, articles and conjugation tables are not invented by AI; they come from open sources such as Wikidata and Tatoeba and are checked.
Your personal data is never sent to AI services. If you spot a mistake, report it with the flag icon on the card.
ElevenLabs
Pronunciation audio
Pronunciation audio is generated with an AI voice (ElevenLabs). It is not a recording of a person and may differ from native speech. elevenlabs.io
