How German numbers are built
- Above twenty, the units come first and the tens second: 21 is literally "one-and-twenty", the reverse of English.
- Every number up to 999,999 is written as a single word, with no spaces.
- Ordinals take -te from 2nd to 19th and -ste from 20th onwards. "First" and "third" are irregular.
- When telling the time, "half" counts towards the next hour: half past two is "half of three".
